Our story, built on lived experience.

Our designer, Paul Campbell, grew up surrounded by beautiful engineering. His father, Bill – a lifelong design engineer – was his inspiration. But when Bill began using a wheelchair later in life, things changed.

Simple moments became difficult. In restaurants, Bill found himself blocking aisles. At home, he couldn’t reach the cupboards. His chair felt clinical – and it made him feel small. Paul had spent his career designing cars – machines that give people freedom, comfort, and control. But when it came to mobility on a smaller scale, that same care just wasn’t there.

At the same time, co-founder David Rajan was facing the same frustrations. He wanted something better for his son, who lives with cerebral palsy: a chair that felt proud, not medical. Joined by former Ford engineer John Reed, we set out to build something different.

The result is the Centaur – a vehicle shaped by lived experience, built with automotive precision, and designed to help people move through the world with confidence, ease, and a deeper sense of connection.

The Centaur isn’t a mobility aid in the traditional sense. It’s a beautifully engineered, personal vehicle for people who want freedom, style and spontaneity. 

Where other devices look and feel clinical, the Centaur is minimal, elegant and emotionally uplifting.

Lifestyle. The Centaur isn’t just a functional device—it’s a vehicle that redefines personal movement. We designed it for people who want to move through the world on their own terms, without compromise.

Yes. To operate the Centaur safely, you’ll need good core strength, balance and upper body control. The Centaur is not suitable for users who require full-body support or passive mobility

The Centaur is best on smooth or firm surfaces—indoors, urban pavements, plazas or accessible outdoor routes. It’s not designed for loose gravel, grass, sand or steep off-road conditions.

The Centaur can be used in light rain, but we recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to wet or slippery surfaces. It is not waterproof and should be stored in a dry, covered location when not in use.

Redefining Connection: Mobility at Eye Level with The Centaur

Personal mobility is not just about moving from one place to another. It’s about connection, participation, and feeling present in every moment. For too long, mobility devices have created a physical barrier, placing users at a different height and making simple, face to face interactions a challenge. The Centaur changes that by putting you at the heart of the conversation. Fiona shares that, when using her wheelchair, people often bend down, crouch, or drop to their knees just to have a conversation with her. While their intentions are kind, it makes things awkward for everyone involved. “I just think, look, just stand up,” she says, “I don’t want you to ruin your knees just to talk to me.” Yet when people stand, she feels comfortable, but they still feel awkward about the interaction. When keen skier Caroline Crook-Bowen broke her ankle in three places and faced months of rehabilitation, she was expecting a grim time.
