Reflecting on the Inclusive Circle: A Conversation About the Future of Mobility
Inclusive Circle gatherings provide a safe space for people with disabilities, their caregivers and professionals to share experiences, discuss challenges and receive support, particularly regarding technology, well-being and mobility
The recent Inclusive Circle event brought together a remarkable group of designers, innovators, policy experts and entrepreneurs — all united by a shared belief that mobility should enable freedom, connection and dignity. While the gathering itself was intentionally low-key, the quality of the discussion was anything but. The speakers offered a depth of insight that made the conversation both grounded and genuinely inspiring.

For Centaur, taking part in this panel was an opportunity to create alignment with people who are actively reshaping how society approaches accessibility. What made the event stand out was its conversational format. Instead of formal presentations, the panel moved through key issues with short, focused reflections that encouraged honesty and made space for different lived experiences. Attendees engaged with thoughtful questions, turning the room into a collaborative space rather than a traditional audience setup.
A Conversation Driven by Real Experience
Each speaker brought something unique.
From creative leadership and inclusive design, to mobility aids that celebrate personal identity, to community-centred policy work — the range of perspectives highlighted how broad and interconnected the mobility landscape truly is.

This diversity mirrored the challenges we face globally: accessibility in public spaces, the need for empathetic design, the role of technology in bridging generations, and the importance of collaboration between policy, industry and innovation.
At Centaur, we believe reimagining personal mobility requires exactly this kind of cross-sector dialogue. True progress happens when we listen to the people designing solutions, using them, or fighting to make them possible at a systems level.
Our Takeaways as Centaur Robotics
For us, several messages stood out:
Mobility is more than movement — it’s about participation. Whether through policy, product design or community action, the goal is always to enable people to take part fully in life.
Technology must feel human. Innovation succeeds when it strengthens independence and confidence, not when it simply adds complexity.
Inclusion needs collaboration. Designers, policymakers, technology companies and users all see different parts of the same puzzle. When those perspectives meet, better solutions follow.
Events like Inclusive Circle help move the sector forward by giving space to the real conversations — the ones that challenge assumptions and inspire new thinking.

Looking Ahead
We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to attend, share, question and listen. The energy in the room reinforced something we see every day in our work: that the future of mobility must be inclusive by design, created with and for the people who rely on it most.
Centaur remains committed to that vision — building solutions that make mobility smarter, more empowering and unmistakably human.

Centaur Robotics Showcased at a party in Jeddah to mark the birthday of King Charles III
Centaur Robotics was honoured to be selected as one of the standout British innovators at the King’s Birthday Party event, hosted by the British Consulate in Jeddah. This annual celebration brings together influential figures from across Saudi Arabia to experience the very best of British excellence — from engineering and design to culture, science and technology.
This year’s event gathered more than 500 VIPs and distinguished guests. The Centaur was exhibited alongside iconic British brands including Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin, positioning our technology firmly within the “Best of British” narrative.
Throughout the evening, the Centaur team was introduced to leaders from major hospitals, luxury resort developments, international airport operations, and representatives responsible for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s most significant religious and heritage sites. These conversations reflected a common theme: a shared belief in the importance of mobility, active living, and technology that enables people to participate fully in their communities.
What stood out was how global the conversation around healthy ageing has become. Healthcare executives, architects, and hospitality leaders all expressed interest in solutions that help people remain active, social and confident as they move through the world. The Centaur — with its award-winning British engineering and user-centred design — resonated strongly with these priorities.

For Centaur Robotics, the event marks an important step in establishing a meaningful presence within one of the world’s fastest-growing regions for innovation and investment. Saudi Arabia’s ambitious development plans place accessibility, wellbeing and visitor experience at the forefront — areas where the Centaur can offer immediate and tangible value.
While the evening was celebratory in nature, it opened the door to substantive conversations about how mobility technology can enhance daily life, support ageing populations, and enrich hospitality and public spaces. We were encouraged by the enthusiasm and curiosity from guests across sectors, and we look forward to the collaborations that may follow.

The King’s Birthday Party in Jeddah was not just an honour — it was a significant milestone for our team and a reminder of why we work to reimagine the future of mobility.

Listen: It’s about self-respect!
Centaur Robotics chairman Eric Kihlstrom appeared live on BBC Radio Ulster talking about mobility, independence and how the Centaur can help combat loneliness. To an audience of about 500,000 people, Eric explained how the Centaur helps people stay connected.

As one of these innovative businesses using good design to support happier and healthier ageing, we were invited on to the BBC Radio Ulster’s Sunday with Steven Rainey to discuss how design-led innovation can make change happen.

Video: See the Centaur in Action at London’s top event venue
The Centaur was invited along to 8 Northumberland Avenue, central London’s top event venue. See the sleek and beautifully designed machine weave its way through the restaurant, glide across marble floors and spin effortlessly under circles of light.
You can also see the Centaur lift its rider to eye-level where he enjoys a coffee at the bar. It also slides gracefully under a dining table. No fuss. Just beautiful functionality, all made possible by the fusion of great design and advanced technology.
Charles Boyd, owner of 8 Northumberland Avenue, said: “What hooked me on this product is the simple emphasis on making people feel good about being in a chair.”
